Health Disparities

For this assignment, you will write a 6-8 paper following APA format. In 2003, the Institute of Medicine published their comprehensive report titled “Unequal Treatment: Confronting Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health Care”, which documented major health disparities within the United States. The full report is attached to this unit and the excerpt is copied below. For this assignment, you will write a 6-8 page paper discussing one area of health disparities within the United States. You may cite the Institute of Medicine’s report, however please also include more recent citations (within the previous 5 years). You are not required to read the full report. Please just use it as a resource as you prepare your paper. In your paper, you will want to clearly state what health disparity you will address, the relevant background, potential reasons for the disparity, and potential solutions to work towards health equity.
